Physician: Susan Ponkey, MD

Dr. Ponkey is the only physician in Arizona that is board certified in both Maternal Fetal Medicine and Genetics. She started her career as a nurse, graduating magna cum laude with a B.S. in Nursing from ASU. She then finished in the top 10% of her medical school class at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Accepted into Harvard’s prestigious Ob/gyn residency program, she trained at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. Then Dr. Ponkey completed two fellowships in both Maternal Fetal Medicine and Genetics at the University of Pittsburgh’s Magee-Womens Hospital. In addition to her over 20 years of experience, she is also the mother of six children. Her background as a nurse and mother give her the sensitivity and warmth needed to care for women during one of the most important times of their lives.
